On October 5, residents of Rivers State participated in the local government elections to elect their grassroots representatives. Despite initial controversies regarding the election’s legitimacy, the Action Peoples Party (APP) dominated the polls, winning 22 out of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) suspended the declaration of results for Etche Local Government Area, as the collation process is still ongoing.

Announcing the results on Saturday in Port Harcourt, the Chief Electoral Officer of RSIEC, Adolphus Enebeli, stated that the announcement for the 319 councillorship seats, along with the Etche chairmanship results, will follow once collation is completed.
