Gov Alia treats residents to free meals at popular Makurdi restaurants
Governor Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has unveiled a one-day initiative offering free meals to residents at two well-known eateries in Makurdi—Kilimanjaro and Amala Spot—located along Iyorchia-Ayu Road.
The gesture, designed to ease the burden on residents and strengthen community spirit, attracted large numbers of people who trooped to the restaurants to enjoy the complimentary food.
According to a spokesperson from the governor’s office, the move underscores the administration’s focus on social welfare and support for local businesses.
“Governor Alia believes in giving back to the people and encouraging community engagement,” the spokesperson said.
Many beneficiaries commended the governor for the initiative, describing it as thoughtful and timely amid current economic challenges.
The free meal programme is scheduled to last throughout the day, after which normal services will resume at both outlets.
It forms part of broader efforts by the Benue State Government to promote unity and provide relief to residents.
