A group of five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors, led by Nyesom Wike, engaged in discussions with President Bola Tinubu late on Tuesday. The delegation comprised four former governors and one serving governor.

The meeting was preceded by a gathering at the Abuja residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Subsequently, Wike led his fellow former governors to meet with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

While details of the meeting were not available at the time of reporting, it is believed that the primary focus was to establish a working relationship between President Tinubu and the former governors. A source familiar with the meeting indicated that the discussions at Wike’s residence centered around integrating the former governors into the political landscape and exploring opportunities for collaboration.

Notably, this meeting occurred just before the start of the Imo State PDP governorship campaign in Owerri, and during a period of rising tensions concerning the party Secretary’s position.

The former Governors present at the meeting were Nyesom Wike, former Rivers State Governor and current FCT minister; Samuel Ortom, former Benue State Governor; Ifianyi Ugwuanyi, former Enugu State Governor; Okezie Ikpeazu, former Abia State Governor; and Seyi Makinde, the current Oyo State Governor.
