Gospel singer, Big Bolaji laid to rest in Ibadan

Popular Nigerian gospel artiste, Bolaji Olanrewaju, widely known as Big Bolaji, was laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State, following his passing on April 19 after a brief illness. He was 50 years old.
The final farewell began on Wednesday with a funeral service and lying-in-state at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan. The solemn occasion drew an emotional crowd of family, friends, fans, and fellow gospel artists who gathered to honour his life and legacy.
The event was marked by heartfelt tributes and quiet reflection. Emotional scenes shared on social media showed pallbearers carrying Big Bolaji’s flower-adorned casket into the venue as mourners stood in respectful silence. A touching video tribute was played during the service, chronicling his musical journey, ministry, and the profound spiritual impact he made over the years. The tribute drew both tears and applause.
Among those present were prominent figures from the gospel music and entertainment world, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and beloved comedian Woli Agba.
Following the service, the burial procession made its way to All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, where Big Bolaji was finally laid to rest.
His wife, siblings, and loved ones stood in solemn reflection at the graveside as the celebrated gospel minister was committed to the earth — a final goodbye to a voice that had inspired countless hearts through music and ministry.
