Gov Alia appoints Prof. Alabar as Vice Chancellor of Fr Adasu University
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Father Adasu University, Makurdi (FAUM), the state-owned institution formerly known as Benue State University (BSU).
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the approval followed the completion of all required procedures conducted by the university’s Governing Board in collaboration with other statutory bodies.
The statement noted that the appointment takes effect immediately.
Providing details, Kula said, “Professor Alabar who is currently the Dean Postgraduate School, FAUM hails from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
“The Professor of Marketing who started his academic practice with the Father Adasu University from 1999 till date has previously held different positions of responsibilities including Dean, Faculty of Administration & Management; Acting Vice-Chancellor; Head, Department of Business Management, Benue State University, Acting Chairman Consultant Services Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences; Coordinator, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Department of Business Management; Examination Officer, Post Graduate Diploma in Management,” Kula said.
While congratulating the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Governor Alia urged him to demonstrate purposeful, ethical, and inclusive leadership capable of driving academic growth, promoting innovative research, and building both character and competence among staff and students.
The statement further quoted the governor as saying, “You must uphold the autonomy and integrity of the university, promote a culture of merit, innovation, and accountability, and ensure prudent stewardship of human and material resources.”
