Gov Mutfwang, David Mark, Peter Obi, others console Senator Abba Moro over loss of Son, grandson

A stream of dignitaries and sympathisers on Wednesday visited the Abuja residence of Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South and serving as Senate Minority Leader, to condole with him over the deaths of his son and grandson.

Among those who paid condolence visits were Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang; former Senate President, Senator David Mark and his wife, Mrs. Helen Mark; former Anambra governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; Senators Sahabi Alhaji Yaú, Onyewuchi Francis Ezenwa, and Alli Sharafadeen Abiodun; as well as music icon Innocent Idibia (Tuface).

Others included Chief Godwin Obla (SAN), Hon. Ojotu Ojema, Comr. Austin Agada, Dr. Matthias Byaun, Hajiya Zainab Maina, Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu, Prof. Teddy Agida, Chief Frank Ikpobu Alochu, members of the Zone C APC, NCDC Board, and the Movement for Igede Advancement (MIA), among many others.

Governor Mutfwang, while speaking, said he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss.

“Most Distinguished, I can’t comprehend the series of deaths in your family. It’s a huge loss, and I pray God grants you the strength to bear it,” he said. “Please accept the condolences of the government and people of Plateau State.”

Responding, Senator Moro expressed appreciation for the outpouring of love and solidarity.

“Thank you for this show of love. In moments like this, we draw strength from those close to us. It’s painful, but I believe God knows best,” he said. “I will remain strong for my family, my senatorial district, and our country.”

Leaders of the Zone C APC, led by Bishop Pinot Ogbaji, also visited, describing Senator Moro as “a leader for all.”

“We are here to mourn with one of our own,” Ogbaji said. “This pain touches everyone in the zone. We will continue to stand by you in prayer and solidarity.”

Similarly, the newly inaugurated NCDC Board and members of MIA extended condolences, pledging continued partnership and support.

Senator Moro, in his remarks to both groups, thanked them for their solidarity and reaffirmed his commitment to working for the progress of Benue South and the Igede Nation.

“What happened is painful, but we have accepted it,” he said. “I appreciate your visits and your prayers. Together, we’ll continue working for our people.”
