Gov Ortom reacts to Lagos pipeline explosion, Otukpo market fire
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has commiserated with the victims of the Lagos State pipeline explosion.
Reports said the pipeline explosion in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Sunday killed 17 persons and injured 25.
Reacting, Ortom in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase described the incident as sad, unfortunate and shocking.
He also sympathized with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos State and families of victims of the explosion.
Ortom urged relevant agencies to ascertain the cause of the explosion and make efforts to cushion the effect it has on those affected.
The Governor also expressed sadness over the fire which gutted the Otukpo main market in the early hours of Monday.
DAILY POST had reported that goods worth millions of naira were consumed in an early morning fire razed Otukpo Main Market, Benue State.
The inferno, which started about 4am, left several shops and goods destroyed.
The Governor sympathized with shop owners and all traders whose investments were affected by the fire and appreciated God that no lives were lost.
He promised to personally visit the market on Tuesday, to ascertain the level of damage caused by the inferno.
