Gov Ortom receives hundreds of APC members into PDP in Ushongo

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP today in Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area further depleted the ranks of All Progressives Congress, APC and other opposition parties in the area.

Governor Samuel Ortom, assisted by the Senator representing Benue North East, Dr Gabriel Suswam received the opposition members led by Dr Akoso Aganyi into the PDP.

He stated that the APC-led administration had failed Nigerians and there was no reason to remain in the party, stressing that the people of Ushongo had fared better under the PDP-led administration in the past.

The Governor gave assurance that PDP would provide equal opportunities for the new entrants, pointing out that they have the right to contest for any elective position in their new party.

Senator Gabriel Suswam in a remark, said he and Governor Ortom are building a foundation for the youth to leverage on to provide people oriented leadership.

He stated that the people of Usbongo have no reason to remain in APC as the benefits they enjoyed while in PDP were too numerous to be forgotten in a hurry.

State Chairman of the PDP, Sir John Ngbede attributed the massive defections into the PDP to the enabling environment provided by Governor Ortom, even as he assured them of equal opportunities in the party.

House of Assembly member representing Ushongo State Constituency, Hon Abbas Akosu called on the people of the area to rally round PDP in the State for more dividends of democracy while Mrs Keziah Agundu said she was happy that her people came back to join her in the PDP.

Chairman Forum of PDP Governorship Aspirants, Hon Chile Igbawua said they remain united and would go about their consultations and subsequent campaigns without rancour, adding that they would support anyone that emerges as candidate of the part at the primaries.
