Grammys: Davido, Atiku, Saraki, others congratulate Wizkid, Burna Boy
Congratulations are in order for Nigerian music heavyweights, Wizkid -Ayodeji Balogun- and Burna Boy -Damini Ogulu- following their Grammy wins on Sunday.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album for his 5th studio album “Twice As Tall”, while Wizkid won the Best Music Video alongside Beyonce, Blue Ivy for their collaboration “Brown Skin Girl”.
Taking to social media platform, Twitter, to celebrate the Nigerian music ambassadors, in separate tweets, Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku wrote: “I am delighted and proud as a Nigerian at Wizkid’s Grammy win. Wizkid is an epitome of the talent that abounds in Nigeria. Congrats @wizkidayo”
For Burna Boy, the ex-VP tweeted; “Congrats @BurnaBoy! #Grammys”
In similar vein, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki tweeted: “Congratulations @Burnaboy and @Wizkidayo!
#GRAMMYs #NigeriaToTheWorld”
Interestingly, their colleague and perceived industry rival, Davido was not let out on the list of well wishers, as he took to social media app, Twitter to celebrate them.
He wrote: “Whichever way you look at it, this is a victory for Nigeria for the culture and for my people ! Congrats to our winners! Tule Naija! 🇳🇬 #Grammys #foreverchoke”
On his part, ace producer/music executive, Don Jazzy wrote; “Congrats to @burnaboy & @wizkidayo for the Grammy wins. It’s not beans at all. More wins kings . 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 🇳🇬”
Meanwhile, former Presidential aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has proposed that the federal government should populate the country’s international airports with symbols of phenomenal Nigerian success like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
He wrote: “If we can name one of our biggest stadia after Sani Abacha, the world’s biggest thief, I dont see why we can’t populate our international airports with symbols of phenomenal Nigerian success, such as @NOIweala, @burnaboygram, @wizkidayo and @davido
