No fewer than 14 persons were reported killed by suspected terrorists Saturday night at Kaya village in Giwa Local Government of Kaduna state.

According to a report by HumAngle, the gunmen attacked the village at about 7:30 pm, injuring an undisclosed number of people as well as setting houses and cars ablaze.

Muslim faithful were in mosques observing Isha’i prayer when the terrorists arrived the village, said Mansir Alhaji, 37 a villager said who sustained serious gunshot wound on his shoulder.

“They came to our village on motorcycles around 7:30, mostly three on each bike shooting sporadically at every one,” he said.

“They killed 14 people including elderly ones while many people sustained injuries.”

Speaking on properties damaged by the terrorists, Rabiu Yakawada, another villager said “they set cushions belonging to the carpenters on fire, motorcycles and cars were also ablaze”.

Residents were sighted relocating from the village to safer communities.

One of the fleeing people who identified himself as Iliyasu Mai Dawa said “ we reported our fears and threat from these groups for a very long time but nothing has been done”.

“They killed many people yesterday. I escaped the attack in the bush but they killed two of my friends. As you can see now, we are relocating to Funtua,” Mai Dawa said.

In February last year, the group killed 21 persons including 13 women in Bakali village a few kilometers away from Kaya village.
