The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given its nod to a substantial increase in electricity tariffs for customers falling under Band A classification.

Musliu Oseni, NERC’s Vice Chairman, announced that customers in this segment will now face a rate of N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h), marking a significant jump from the previous N66 rate.

Band A subscribers are those who benefit from 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily. Conversely, Band B customers enjoy 16 to 20 hours of power, Band C receives 12 to 16 hours, Band D gets eight to 12 hours, and Band E subscribers are allocated four to eight hours of electricity daily.
