Idoma-born Samuel Otene emerges Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association Benue State chapter

Idoma-born Samuel Anaja Otene, has been elected as Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Benue State chapter.

Otene Consultant Oncologist with Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, with over twelve years of experience, won the keenly contested election held at the Precious Conference Centre, Makurdi Benue on Friday.

Electoral Committee Chair, Dr Offor, I.O, announced the result Friday evening.

He floored his main challenger, Dr. Nwaeze to win the election barely three months after another Idoma son, Prof. Innocent Ujah was also elected National President of the medical body.

Otene hailed from Ai-Opeka clan in Opa Adoka  of Otukpo LGA.

In a terse congratulatory message to the new Benue NMA chairman, James Ewaoche Amedu, the Media Assistant to Senator Abba Moro, pray for God’s will protection and wisdom to pilot the task ahead, efficiently.

“Continue soaring,” he wrote in his congratulatory message posted on his Facebook page.

 

For chairmanship position, there were 2 Contestants.

The votes below.

Dr. Nwaeze scored 158 Votes

Dr. Otene scored 235 votes.

3 Votes were invalid.
