Idoma governor 2023: Former Senate President, top Benue politicians endorse Steve Lawani
Some top politicians from Idoma community, including former Senate President have declared their support for the governorship ambition of Chief Steve Lawani.
Lawani, a native of Otukpa and erstwhile deputy governor of Benue State is eyeing the governorship seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
This is just as former Minority Whip in the House of Representatives, Hon Nelson Alapa has withdraws his ambition for Lawani, in order to pave the way for a-one-man- aspirant from Benue South known as Zone-C.
Alapa said, “During my consultations across zone a & b, i was told to my face by our tiv brothers that we’ve tested chief steven lawani and we are comfortable with him.
Also endorsing Lawani for the number one seat, a lawmaker representing Otukpo/Ohimini at the Green Chamber, Lady Blessing Onuh, said Lawani is the right man for the job.
She said, “Let’s avoid the past mistake, let’s look beyond party lines, this is not the time for bitter politics, this is the time to throw our weights behind one man. If zone a & b are calling for one man to take up the seat then I, Lady Blessing Onuh and my esteemed followers, throw our weight on the chief Steven Lawani 2023 project.”
Also, former Senate President, Ameh Ebute, believes that Lawani remains the right man for a new Benue.
His words, ““I’ve talked to almost all the agitators and they have assured me that they will narrow down their agitations to support just one man. almost all of them settled for Lawani.
On his part, APC chieftain, Usman Abubaka (Young ALHAJI) said, “I contested against the former senate president, David Mark, I fought him very hard, I gave him sleepless night. He thought I can never support anything about him in the future. The same me young Alhaji fought for him in 2011 when the issue of unity came, for the interest of Idomas, I throw my support for Lawani.”
