Jigawa’s only female Reps aspirant steps down, endorses Yusha’u
The only female aspirant for the Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency seat, Barrister Firdausi Sunusi Umar, has withdrawn from the race and declared her support for the consensus candidate.
Firdausi was one of eleven contenders seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress APC.
All the nine aspirants excluding Bar. Firdausi had earlier stepped down for Yusha’u Muhammad who is considered as a consensus candidate.
Just hours before the primary election, Firdausi announced her withdrawal during a courtesy visit to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.
In her withdrawal letter addressed to the party’s national chairman and received by the state legal adviser, Barrister Baffa Alhassan, she explained that her decision was made in the interest of party unity, stability, and progress.
She added that the move followed consultations with party elders and stakeholders, and was in line with Section 87(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.
“I have resolved to align myself with the consensus candidate of our great party, APC,” she stated.
“I therefore wholeheartedly endorse Yusha’u Muhammad as the party’s candidate for the Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency.”
