Joe Aribo shines in Southampton return

Southampton manager Russell Martin has admitted that the team felt the absence of Joe Aribo during his time away with Nigeria.

Aribo recently returned to the Saints after representing Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles secured a second-place finish.

In Tuesday night’s match against Hull City, Aribo came off the bench to score in Southampton’s 2-1 home defeat.

Expressing his sentiments, Martin stated, “It’s been amazing. We’ve missed him a lot, and he demonstrated that the other night. I believe he’s prepared to start games now, despite his time away. He’s a vital player for us, and his leadership qualities were evident when he wore the armband.”
