Julius Abure re-elected as Labour Party National Chairman amid opposition
Mr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has been re-elected for a second term, as delegates unanimously affirmed their support for him.
This re-election comes despite opposition from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the National Convention and Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mr. Ikechukwu Emetu, during the party’s national convention held on Wednesday in Nnewi, Anambra State.
Abure’s tenure has been marked by a contentious relationship with the leadership of the NLC, particularly led by Joe Ajaero.
The NLC has previously called for Abure’s resignation as the party chairman, urging the immediate constitution of a caretaker transition committee to facilitate a legitimate and all-inclusive national convention for the party.
