Kogi Decides: INEC staff arrested with pre-recorded result sheets

Some Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in Kogi State were allegedly caught with pre-filled result sheets on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

One of the accredited observers from YIAGA Africa raised the alarm about the proliferation of the pre-filled result sheet in PU 020, Eika/Ohizenyi, Okehi LGA of the State. YIAGA Africa also reported the same development in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area.

The observer group asked INEC to investigate and address the issue to safeguard the integrity of the process.

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, also raised an alarm that all the result sheets had been filled. Melaye called on his agents and voters in the state to reject the anomaly and protest until the “compromised” INEC officials showed them a plain result sheet.

INEC has not yet commented on the allegations.

The allegations of pre-filled result sheets are serious and, if proven true, would undermine the credibility of the election in Kogi State.
