Lagos shuts Acme Road ahead of APC council primaries

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Acme Road in Ogba ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) local council primaries scheduled for Saturday at the party’s state secretariat.

The APC state headquarters is situated along Acme Road, a busy commercial area with several businesses and offices. The primaries are expected to draw a large number of party members and supporters, prompting concerns over traffic congestion.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the road closure was part of efforts to manage vehicular movement and ensure a hitch-free event. He stated that the affected access points include Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande Road, and Acme Crescent.

To ease traffic and prevent congestion in the area, Osiyemi noted that motorists approaching from Adeniyi Jones would be redirected through Aromire to reach Allen Junction. Similarly, vehicles from Allen Avenue should use Aromire to connect to Ladipo Oluwole and continue through Guinness. For those coming from Akilo Road, they are advised to pass through Wemco Road and connect to Lateef Jakande or proceed towards Omole, depending on their destination.

The Commissioner urged residents and commuters to avoid the area unless necessary and to plan their movements ahead of time to reduce pressure on adjoining roads. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation with traffic officials to ensure smooth vehicular flow throughout the duration of the event.
