1. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised concern over the destruction of its campiagn materials in parts of Benue state by the opposition.
The acting Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Isaac Mffo who raised the alarm Thursday in Makurdi lamented that while the PDP was playing by the rules, the opposition were disrespecting the tenets of the peace accord they all signed.
2. The Benu state police commissioner, Wale Abass, stated that no ransom was paid for the release of the state commissioner, Ekpe Ogbu and others.
3. Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, says he can end banditry in the state if he takes charge of security forces deployed by the federal government.
Benue, among several states of the country, has witnessed attacks by gunmen which have led to killings, abductions, and displacement.
4. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has sent a surprising invitation to President Muhammadu Buhari to commission two newly constructed cell blocks at the Makurdi medium correctional centre in the state.
This was disclosed by Governor Ortom at a meeting with the people of Ugondo, the host community for the correctional service.
5. No fewer than 73 people on Thursday benefitted from the rural employment promotion department of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE)) in Benue State.
The beneficiaries were given N100,000 soft loans each to start their own agribusinesses.
6. Managing Director of the agriculture-based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Sylvester Uzoama, disclosed this, yesterday, during its 2022 end-of-year party in Makurdi.
According to Uzoama, it is the culture of Green Savannah to celebrate every year end by reaching out to the less-privileged through distribution of food and other agricultural produce to the people, particularly their immediate host community, the Nigerian Air Force Base and Ugondo communities in Makurdi Local Council.
