Like Musa, Mikel Obi advised to join Nigerian football league club
Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has been advised to emulate his former teammate, Ahmed Musa, by joining a Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, club.
Veteran Nigerian coach, Henry Makinwa, gave the advice in recent chat with Goal.
IDOMA VOICE report that Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, after failing to secure a contract in Europe, returned to his boyhood club, Kano Pillars, where he currently plies his trade.
Makinwa urged Mikel to do the same insisting it would be a “massive win” for the Nigerian topflight.
“That would be highly welcomed if he can consider that option.
“I once wrote about this many years back but that could not stand then. If he does that, we will welcome him back home.
“It would be a massive win for the NPFL and the local fans,” Makinwa told Goal.
Mikel signed for Championship side Stoke City on a short-term deal after leaving Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor last year.
However, his contract with the Potters expires at the end of the 2020/2021 campaign.
