Man kills WhatsApp group admin over removal from group

A Pakistani man is accused of fatally shooting the administrator of a community WhatsApp group after being removed from the chat.

According to Naija News, Mushtaq Ahmed was killed on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—a province bordering Afghanistan known for its history of sectarian violence.

Police documents seen by AFP and a local official reveal that a suspect named Ashfaq has been charged with murder. Mushtaq’s brother explained that an argument led to Mushtaq expelling Ashfaq from the group, and although they had arranged to meet and reconcile, Ashfaq allegedly arrived armed and opened fire, driven by anger over his removal.

In a separate incident, a 52-year-old man named Salihu Byezhe collapsed during Subhi prayers at a community mosque in Gudaba village, part of the Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Reports obtained by Naija News on Friday morning indicate that Byezhe, after enjoying Sahur—the pre-dawn meal observed during Ramadan—performed his ablutions and joined the early morning prayers.

During the session, he suddenly collapsed, and despite immediate efforts by those present to transport him to a hospital in Kuje, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Medical personnel attributed his death to high blood pressure complications that may have escalated during the prayers.

A local resident, Musa Dantani, described the scene: “Prayers were ongoing when he suddenly slumped, and some Muslims inside the mosque quickly held him and conveyed him to the hospital.

He was still breathing on the way, but unfortunately, he did not make it.” One of Byezhe’s sons, present at the mosque, accompanied him to the hospital where his death was confirmed by the attending physician. In accordance with Islamic customs, his burial took place at approximately 10:12 am on Thursday.
