Evans, accomplice re-arraigned in Lagos for alleged murder, kidnapping
The Lagos State Government on Monday re-arraigned convicted billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, before the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja over the alleged murder of two police officers.
Evans was re-arraigned alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, on a five-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
When the charges were read before Justice A.O. Ogala, both defendants pleaded not guilty.
Evans, widely known for his involvement in a string of high-profile abductions, is currently facing five separate criminal trials related to kidnapping and murder, having already been convicted in two of the cases.
The latest re-arraignment comes shortly after President Bola Tinubu approved presidential clemency for several convicted inmates across the country.
