Mohbad’s death: Singer’s father drags Primeboy, others before coroner
An application has been submitted to the coroner court in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The application, filed by law firm Hillceetee Partners on behalf of the deceased’s father, Joseph Aloba, aims to bring forth additional witnesses to shed light on the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s demise.
The statement, signed by Monisola Odumosu, revealed that the application, signed by Emmanuel Oroko, highlights the necessity of testimonies from witnesses who could provide more factual and evidential insights into the events surrounding the singer’s death.
The law firm noted that certain incidents, particularly on the Third Mainland Bridge on September 10, 2023, and events at the deceased’s residence on September 12, 2023, had not been adequately addressed during the ongoing inquest.
The application specifically mentioned key witnesses, including the driver of the car that transported Mohbad, his wife, his brother, and others proposed for testimony.
The law firm questioned the functionality of the CCTV at the deceased’s residence during the time of his return, casting doubt on its reported status.
The witnesses requested to testify include individuals who were with Mohbad at the time, such as Ayobami Fisayo (aka Spending), Boluwatife Adeyemo (aka Darosha), and Ibrahim Owodunni (aka Prime Boy).
The law firm asserted that their accounts could provide crucial information to understand the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s death.
The family source explained that the application was prompted by the suspension of the ongoing inquest by the coroner, awaiting the results from the pathologist. The family believes that additional witnesses could contribute valuable circumstantial evidence to unravel the true cause of Mohbad’s death.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparking controversies. The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation, leading to the arrest of individuals like Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu.
The autopsy report is still pending, with the law firm’s application seeking to enhance the ongoing inquest and provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely demise.
