Mrs Audu calls for unity among Okpokwu Traditional rulers
Executive Chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amina Audu has called on traditional rulers under her domain to unite in order to bring peace and progress to their land.
Mrs Audu made this call today Thursday, 17th, 2022 during the town hall meeting she organised for traditional rulers at the Okpokwu Area Traditional Council Hall in Okpoga.
“I bring you greetings, drinks and kola nuts. You are the custodians of our culture and tradition, the security challenges prevailing in our land today can only be subdued if there is unity of purpose among you traditional rulers. We must put to an end to the incessant legal tussles among traditional rulers in Okpokwu. Taking yourselves to court to resolve traditional issues is not the solution as it will even cause more harm than good because it involves waste of resources and emotional anger from both waring sides. I urge you to always resolve your disagreements through our local conflict resolution mechanism”, Mrs Amina said.
The 2nd Class Chief of Okpokwu (Ad’Okpokwu) who presided over the meeting, HRH Chief James Ejembi Okefe in his speech, thanked the council chairman for taking such bold step in order to resolve the disunity among some of the traditional rulers in the local government, assuring her that all necessary steps would be taken to bring such impasse to an end.
Earlier in his speech on behalf of the traditional rulers, the 3rd Class Chief of Edumoga (Och’Edumoga), HRH Chief Ochechema Ojo, decried the alarming rate at which some traditional rulers take themselves to court in order resolve traditional issues, admonishing them to desist from such habit in order to bring unity, peace and development to Okpokwu as no meaningful development can take in a kingdom where the traditional leaders are always at log ahead with one another.
