1. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, has warned of dire consequences should the Central Bank of Nigeria go ahead to redesign the naira notes. The CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had on Wednesday announced the plan of the apex bank to redesign the naira notes.
2. Nollywood actor and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has predicted victory for the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Okonkwo, who is one of the spokespersons for the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign organisation, said Obi would emerge winner of the February election. He gave the prediction when he appeared on a programme on Channels Television.
3. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has explained why he is visiting the United States.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Atiku is currently in the US alongside some of his campaign team members like former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, and others.
According to Waziri Adamawa Atiku, the visit would afford him the opportunity of high-level engagements aimed at setting the pace for building an economically stronger and more secure Nigeria.
5. The Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Dr. Emmanuel Shior has disbursed the donated Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) cash to flood victims across communities in Makurdi Local Government Area today, 28th October, 2022.According to the SEMA Boss, the N50,000 for each household of the affected victims was a donation received from the wife of the President of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari through Senator Mrs. Oluremi Shade Tinubu, wife of the APC Presidential Candidate for 2023 general elections to cushion the sufferings of the victims.
6. Mock redesigned naira notes with comedians has surfaced online.
IDOMA VOICE recall that Central Bank of Nigeria is set to launch new designs to replace high-value naira notes from December 15, 2022.
The bank said it is doing this to have control of the currency in circulation, manage inflation, as well as tackle counterfeiting.
7. The Appeal Court, on Friday, suspended the execution of its judgment that ordered President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to release the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In its previous ruling, IDOMA VOICE recalls that the appellate court had ordered the Federal Government to release the Biafra agitator.
8. Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will formally inaugurate its campaign structures at the state level comprising the State Campaign Council and the State Campaign Management Committee, on Monday, 31st October, 2022 at the party’s State Secretariat in Makurdi.
A 168-member State Campaign Council will be inaugurated with His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom as Chairman, Governorship Candidate of the party in the 2023 elections, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba, as Vice Chairman, and State Secretary of the party, Dr. Joseph Nyame as Secretary.
9. After seven years of hiatus from the music scene, Anti, Rihanna has returned with a new single, “Lift Me Up.”
Lift Me Up is her musical contribution to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which premiered in Los Angeles Wednesday night.
“Lift me up/Hold me down/Keep me close /Safe and sound,” she sings as the song opens. “Burning in a hopeless dream/Hold me when you go to sleep.”
