At least six people have been reported killed by gunmen suspected to be armed herders in a series of attacks on two communities in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attacks occurred on Friday in the Iwari and Olegagbane communities. A resident, identified only as Adayi, reported that one person was killed in Iwari and five others in Olegagbane.

Fresh facts have emerged regarding the successful rescue of 20 medical students and seven others who were kidnapped in Benue State.
The students, from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were abducted by bandits while en route to Enugu for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students’ annual convention.

Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board granted asylum to at least 1,467 Nigerians who applied for refugee protection between January 2023 and March 2024.
This raises the total number of successful asylum claims by Nigerians to 11,370 from 2012 to the first quarter of 2024, according to data from the Refugee Protection Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

Nollywood actress and film producer Sharon Okpamen has sadly passed away just days after giving birth to her second child. The news was first announced by Okpamen herself on Instagram, celebrating the arrival of her new baby. However, fellow movie producer Stanely Ontop later confirmed her death.
On social media, Ontop expressed his grief, stating, “Nollywood actress and producer Sharon Okpamen has unfortunately passed away. It’s a tragic loss for Nollywood and the Edo entertainment industry. The legal team representing the family of the late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has expressed concern over what it described as sensitive information on the death of the deceased being released to the public.
