  1. The private residence of the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud, was engulfed in flames on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a complete destruction of the property.

    The incident, which occurred at No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, Asokoro, saw the house completely razed by the fire. 

  2. The Gombe Division of the Court of Appeal, on Thursday, February 22, 2024 upheld the conviction of Alhaji Idris Yahaya, Auditor General for Local Government, Yobe State.

    He was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment on Monday, March 13, 2023 by Justice Muhammad Lawu Lawan of the Yobe State High Court, after being prosecuted by the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a one count of criminal misappropriation to the tune of Nineteen Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N19,900,000.00).

  3. A coalition of civil society groups in Benue State has condemned what they call “judicial malfeasance” funded by the executive leadership.

    They accused some powerful politicians in the state of orchestrating a scheme to remove Chief Justice Maurice Ikpambese and Benue State APC Chairman Comrade Austin Agada.

  4. President Bola Tinubu has set up an economic advisory committee to chart a pathway for the economic growth and development of the nation.

    The president made this known on Sunday after meeting with some members of the Organised Private Sector at the State House, Abuja.

    In a statement on Sunday, Atiku said Nigeria is in a dilemma simply because of Tinubu’s economic reforms and his failure to take advice from experts.

  6. The Comrade Julius Abure-led Labour Party (LP) has stated that a letter allegedly written by the estranged former Vice Chairman, Lamidi Apapa, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), forwarding names of governorship candidates is fraudulent.

    The party insisted that some renegade elements were trying to create confusion within the party.

  7. The Labour Party (LP) chairmen from the 36 states in the country have reportedly passed a vote of no confidence on the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.

    The stakeholders urged Abure to step down with immediate effect.

  8. The convener of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Prof. Ango Abdullahi, has stated that something is wrong with Nigeria and its citizens.

    Speaking during the unveiling of Dr. Umar Ardo’s book “Court and Politics” in Abuja over the weekend, Abdullahi emphasized the need for Nigeria to reassess its strategies, as the current systems are proving to be ineffective.

  9. The Qatar Government has agreed to host the business and investment forum proposed by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    The new development was disclosed in a memo dated February 23, 2024, from the Qatar embassy, addressed to Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  10. A former Member of the House of Representatives, Dr Usman Bugaje, has asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was misled by ‘Lagos Boys’.

    Naija News understands that ‘Lagos Boys’ is a name coined for Tinubu’s loyalists from Lagos during his time as governor.
