Naira hits two-month low against US Dollar
The naira fell to its weakest level in two months on Friday, closing the week on a downward trend against the US dollar.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the currency declined to ₦1,450.43 per dollar, down from ₦1,447.83 on Thursday, representing a daily loss of ₦2.59.
In the black market, the naira remained steady at ₦1,475 per dollar on Friday, unchanged from Wednesday.
Recall that the naira only saw a brief appreciation on Tuesday during the week under review. On a week-on-week basis, the currency dropped by ₦3.68, compared to ₦1,446.74 recorded on November 28, 2025.
The decline comes even as Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves rose to $45.04 billion as of December 4, 2025.
