The FCT Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully confiscated a total of 3,988.74 kilograms of various illicit drugs, amounting to an estimated value of N80 million. The announcement was made by Mr. Kabir Tsakuwa, the Commander of Narcotics (CN) for the FCT, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
In addition to the significant drug seizure, a total of 134 individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, peddling, and drug abuse were apprehended during this operation.
The assortment of drugs seized includes cannabis Sativa, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Tramadol, Rohypnol, and Diazepam. Notably, cannabis Sativa was the most prominently seized drug by NDLEA operatives, with 3,861.789 kilograms confiscated. Cocaine, on the other hand, weighed a mere 0.038 kilograms.
Among the other drugs seized, Diazepam weighed 13.63 kilograms, Tramadol amounted to 105.136 kilograms, Methamphetamine accounted for 3.024 kilograms, Ecstasy was 0.009 kilograms, and Pentazocine weighed 1.070 kilograms.
Out of the 134 individuals apprehended for their suspected involvement in the drug trade, 128 were males, and six were females. During the third quarter of the year, a total of 104 suspects were subjected to legal proceedings, and 27 of them have already been convicted.
