NITDA and NYSC to Form CDS Group for Tech-Empowered Post-Service Employability The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is teaming up with the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and its subsidiary, the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), to establish a dedicated Community Development Service (CDS) group. This initiative aims to boost post-service employability by integrating emerging technologies into Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programs, offering a holistic learning experience.

During the launch of the NITDA-NYSC Emerging Tech for All (ET4ALL) program at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, Mr. Yusuf Abubakar, representing National Director NCAIR Eng Garba Ya’u, announced this collaboration. The program focuses on propelling Nigeria’s Corp members into the digital era, concentrating on advanced technologies such as Robotics, Drones, AI, IoT, and Blockchain. Key NYSC departments, including SAED, Community Development Service, and Special Projects, are actively involved.

Mr. Ya’u emphasized that the initiative’s expected outcomes include heightened tech awareness, active knowledge-sharing among Corps members, and the cultivation of innovative ideas contributing to national digital advancement.

The collaboration aligns with the SRAP goal, preparing and positioning Corps Members to seize opportunities presented by emerging technologies. The partnership will play a pivotal role in expanding ICT skills acquisition in conjunction with the two-week SAED program.

Corps members are encouraged to leverage opportunities like the NITDA AI Developers Training (NAIDT) and iHatch Cohorts, where they can potentially become instructors and more.
