Ochacho Carnival: How drunk gun-wielding Civil Defense officer, Adakole Kapon killed Jennifer Robert, one other in Otukpo – Planning Committee
The Ochacho Carnival Planning Committee, OCPC, has identified one Adakole Kapon, a staff of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, of gunning down two youths in Otukpo on Christmas
IDOMA VOICE reports that a certain Jennifer Robert and another young man were killed while seeking fun in Otukpo on Christmas Day.
While many had claimed they were killed while trying to touch one of the invited artistes, other version of the report claimed they were shot by fellow cult members on Ochacho Avenue, venue of the star-studded carnival ground.
However, the organizers said the incident some two streets away from the venue of the carnival and not on Ochacho Street.
Agbo Dave in a statement on behalf of the organizers said the Kapon was not part of the security personnel invited to the carnival.
He said, “The Ochacho Carnival Planning Committee, OCPC), wish to inform the general public that the said incident did not occur at the venue of the ongoing Ochacho Carnival. The incident reportedly happened at some two streets away from the venue of the carnival.
“As confirmed from our security reports, an allegedly drunk gun-wielding Civil Defense officer simply identified as Adakole Kapon opened fire on the female victim, Jennifer Robert, over a yet to be established dispute between the both of them and left her dead. It was also reported that a stray bullet hit the male victim who also died on the spot.
“After the shooting, report says attempts by Mr. Adakole Kapon to escape the area met a brick wall as passersby rushed to the venue of the incident and apprehended the gun-wielding Civil Defense officer who has been taken to the Otukpo Divisional Headquarters of the Nigerian Police for further actions.
“We dissociate organisers of the Ochacho Carnival from this wanton and avoidable dastardly act. The Ochacho Carnival is organized by some reputable Idoma youngsters in other to entertain the Idoma nation during the yuletide season. And while security measures were top on the list of activities at the event, large quantities of nose masks and hand sanitizers were made available to all participants in other to prevent person-to-person transmission of the dreaded Covid-19 virus.
“We also wish to make it clear that the killer Civil Defense officer, Mr. Adakole Kapon, was/is not a part of the security formation handling security issues at the Ochacho Carnival.”
