Sodje slams NFF for delay in appointing Super Eagles head coach

Sam Sodje has expressed frustration over the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) delay in appointing a new head coach for the Super Eagles.

The NFF has yet to finalize the appointment of a head coach for the three-time African champions. Former Ajax winger Finidi George left the position in June after the NFF decided to bring in a foreign technical adviser for the team.

With the Super Eagles set to start their campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next month, Sodje, a former Super Eagles defender, has voiced his concerns.

“It’s disappointing that we’re still discussing the coaching situation with no resolution,” Sodje told Brila FM. “The state of football and sports in the country has deteriorated. We’ve lost touch with the game.

“Having no coach at this critical time is unacceptable. While an interim manager might be a temporary solution, it’s crucial that the NFF acts quickly.”
