The desired peace which seems to have eluded Ondo, Ogobia and other parts of Ugboju community of Otukpo Local Government Area within the last three years may have been restored, as Rt. Hon. George Alli, waded in with the support of community Chiefs, leaders and sons of Ugboju, including Godwin Adeyi, Comrade Onjefu Awulegbe, Hon. Barr. Oyaje Egwa, Chris Ogah, Augustine Elaigwu; the Member representing Adoka Ugboju Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Audu as well as the three Counselors representing the three Ugboju wards at the Otukpo Legislative Assembly, amongst others.

The Otukpo Council Chairman, while addressing the parties during a short follow-up meeting in his office disclosed that the peace building meeting which he called became necessary due to the adverse effects of the protracted crises that has ravaged Ondo, Ogobia and other parts of Ugboju.

Hon. Alli said he has had several consultative meetings with many Ugboju sons and daughters and the general consensus is that the need for peace in Ugboju is paramount and all hands must be on desk to ensure that the peace that was witnessed during the Yuletide season is sustained.

In his words, “No warring community can enjoy peace and attain progress. All forms of restiveness and disquiets obviously affects the progress of inhabitants any community where violence rages. My appeal to all our brothers in Ugboju is for them to bury their differences and toe the pathway of peace and brotherliness as panacea for growth and development. Let us give peace a chance”.

At the meeting, one of the youth who simply gave his name as Barron, responded by thanking the Chairman for the move. He said they are ready for peace and will do everything within their power to sustain the peace which has come to Ugboju.
