Passengers cheat Death as Enugu Air plane crash-lands at Benin Airport 

Passengers and crew on board an Enugu Air aircraft escaped what could have been a tragic accident after the plane skidded off the runway while landing at the Benin Airport on Wednesday.

Footage circulating online showed the aircraft resting off the runway with its forward door open as passengers were evacuated under the supervision of airport officials and emergency responders. No fatalities were immediately reported, while the condition of those on board was yet to be officially confirmed.

Reacting to the incident, human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, expressed concern over the development and thanked God that the mishap did not result in loss of lives.

“My heart goes out to everyone involved in the incident involving the Enugu Air aircraft at Benin Airport. I hope no one was injured and that all passengers and crew are safe,” Sowore wrote in a post on his social media page.

He called on aviation authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident, stressing that safety standards must never be compromised.

“The authorities must treat aviation safety and regulatory compliance with the utmost seriousness. There is no room for negligence when lives are at stake,” he said.
