In a compelling sermon titled ‘Uncommon Miracles’ during the September Thanksgiving Service at the National Headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of RCCG, delivered an inspiring message. He reminisced about a time when the Nigerian currency, the naira, held more value than the American dollar and conveyed his belief that those “glorious days” would return.
Recalling his own experiences of financial miracles during his early leadership of the church, Pastor Adeboye emphasized that the naira had greater purchasing power compared to the dollar in the past. He offered a heartfelt prayer for the resurgence of such favorable economic conditions.
With a hint of doubt among the congregation, Adeboye assured them by saying, “Oh! I know you don’t believe me. If the Lord I serve is still on the throne, those glorious days will return.” He concluded by suggesting that the eventual return of a stronger naira would serve as a testament to the existence of a “God of miracles.”
Currently, the naira exchanges between N915 and N918 to a dollar in the black market, with growing concerns that it may soon reach the N1,000 mark. The ongoing challenges faced by the naira have significantly impacted businesses and the cost of living, particularly following the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidies.
