Father, we bless your holy name because you are the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the ending, you started this year with us and now you are ending it with us. Accept our worship in Jesus name. Thank you for everything. Thank you especially because the siege is over. Lord God Almighty accept our worship in Jesus name. Tonight in a special way visit your children and let your name be glorified again. In Jesus marvelous name we have prayed. Let someone shout Hallelujah.

I am particularly happy to see you at the end of the year and whether the devil likes it or not, I will see you in the New Year.

Exodus 12: 1-2,8-10.

God’s day always begins in the night. Genesis 1:5. When God is talking about a day, he begins at night. At 12 midnight for example, we stop talking about PM and begin to talk about AM. You have moved from night to day by midnight. By midnight today, for example, we will be shouting happy new year. God’s week begins at night. The first week of creation in Genesis 1:1-5, if you read it you will discover that when God began the work of creation, darkness covered the face of the deep. He started the week at night, the work of creation began at night. Majority of pregnancies began at night. God’s month begins at night. In the text I read to you, He was prophesying into the future, He was talking about a month that was about to begin and He said the meal they were going to take to precede that month that is going to be the beginning of months must be eaten at night. God’s year begins at night. We shout Happy New Year at Midnight. Last year when because of COVID, the government said if you want to have a Crossover Service you can but make sure you end at 10pm. I said that is not Crossover oh. God’s year begins at night.

When something great, something that is about to change history permanently was about to begin, it began at night. Egypt was going to lose its hold on Israel permanently, Israel was going to get out of the siege that has lasted for 400 years permanently. It all started at night. When you read John 13:1-31, when the Lord said he wanted to eat the Passover meal with his disciples. The story would have been completed without verse 30. When the Bible said Judas Iscariot went out to betray the Lord. The Bible could have said he went out full stop. The story will be fine like that but the Bible added “and it was night”. I am sure we are old enough now to know that God is not a talkative. He doesn’t waste words. It was added to tell us we are about to move from B.C. to A.D.

Finally, someone is about to move from darkness to light. From sickness to health, from failure to success, from sorrow to joy because weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning. I have good news for somebody, particularly members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God: Your year of rejoicing is about to come.

The word Passover, which is the origin of the Lord’s over can also be rendered past over meaning the past is over. The siege is over, my failure is over, my sickness is over, my bondage is over, my hopelessness is over, my shame is over.

Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14, he said I have not attained yet but one thing I do is forget things that are behind and pressing towards the mark of my high calling. It doesn’t matter how successful you have been. You are going to forget that now and begin afresh. It doesn’t matter how great your failure has been, you are going to forget and move on to the fresh one. The past is over, the siege is over. Everything that has happened to you up to this moment will go with this year, so that something better, something more glorious, something earth shaking will begin by midnight.

My Lord and my Saviour, I want to thank you for your word. Thank you for the power that is in your word.
