Peter Obi’s defeat has damaged Babachir Lawal – APC mocks ex-SGF

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, for disputing the results of the 2023 presidential election and supporting Peter Obi’s claim of victory. Lawal had voiced his belief that Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, emerged victorious in the election, contrary to the official declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In response, the APC issued a statement signed by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, rebuking Lawal for what they deemed baseless claims and urged him to accept the election results. The statement criticized Lawal’s analysis, stating it was a product of imagination rather than factual evidence.

Morka stated, “Clearly, the defeat of his principal, Peter Obi, at the poll has done incalculable damage to Mr. Lawal’s psyche and his capacity for rational thought, as evident in his analysis based entirely on the figment of his warped imagination rather than on hard facts and figures.”

The APC further challenged Lawal to provide detailed evidence to substantiate his claims or remain silent on the matter. They also criticized his failure to present these alleged facts during the proceedings at the Presidential Elections Petitions Court.

Addressing Lawal’s bitterness and resentment, the APC suggested that he focus on governance and refrain from unnecessary distractions. The party emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s victory and urged Lawal to concentrate on his farm rather than involving himself in disputes that may divert attention from important matters of governance.
