BREAKING: Suspected herdsmen attack SGF Akume’s hometown 48 hours after Tinubu’s visit

Suspected herdsmen have reportedly launched a deadly attack on Wannune community in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, the hometown of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
Sources confirmed that the assault, which occurred just 48 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state, left several people dead and many others injured.
A youth corps member serving in the area described the situation as chaotic and terrifying, saying, “Everyone is running into the bushes for safety. Please let Nigerians pray for us. The herdsmen are ravaging the environment now,” in a desperate call for help.
The renewed violence has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of President Tinubu’s recent visit and the instructions he gave to security agencies.
During his tour, the President met with stakeholders and directed the Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff to hunt down those behind the killings.
His visit followed the massacre of over 200 people in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, a tragedy that drew national condemnation and calls for decisive action.
