The Lagos State Police Command on Sunday detailed how suspected kidnappers abducted a Lagos landlord’s daughter and another individual in the Ijede Community of the state.

According to reporters the incident occurred on March 26, 2025, around 9:00 PM in the community.

A police source, who requested anonymity, informed our correspondent on Sunday that the command received the report the night of the abduction. The kidnappers, whose identities and numbers are yet to be confirmed, attacked the community violently, abducting two individuals and killing a security dog in the process.

The first victim, identified as 40-year-old Dare, was taken from his home. The suspects then forcefully entered another nearby apartment and kidnapped Taiwo, the 25-year-old daughter of a local landlord.

“Upon receiving the report, police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene, where it was found that the kidnappers had violently entered Dare’s home, shot and killed the security dog, and abducted him. The kidnappers also broke into the neighboring house and took Taiwo,” the source revealed.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that a joint security operation was swiftly launched, which resulted in the successful rescue of the victims.

Hundeyin confirmed in a message sent to our correspondent on Sunday that the landlord and his daughter regained their freedom on Saturday.

He added, “Through the relentless and coordinated efforts of the police, the joint task force, and other collaborators, the victims were rescued unhurt on Saturday at approximately 11:56 PM and were handed over to their families.”

The police further noted that the area has since returned to a relatively calm state and is under close surveillance.

“Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects. Any further updates will be provided,” Hundeyin concluded.
