Portable explains why he slapped pastor, apologises for misunderstanding

Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has publicly apologized for slapping a pastor who visited his bar to preach.

IDOMA VOICE reports that the incident, which occurred a few days ago, was captured on video, showing the singer slapping the clergyman.

Portable faced significant backlash from netizens and religious figures who condemned his actions and threatened to take legal action for assaulting a man of God.

In a video posted on Monday night, the singer addressed the controversy, attributing his actions to a misunderstanding rooted in past experiences. He explained that he mistook the preacher for someone intending to cause him spiritual harm.

“May God forgive me,” Portable said. “I didn’t realize he was a genuine man of God. If I had known, I wouldn’t have slapped him. I’m a child of God too. I’m human, and I’m not perfect. I’ve been hurt in the past by people using the same tactics.”

Portable concluded by asking both God and the public for forgiveness.
