Profile of Kenny Osebi Anuwe, MD FGN Power Company

Kenny Anuwe is a seasoned professional and currently serves as the Managing Director/CEO of the FGN Power Company, a role to which he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari. In this capacity, Kenny is entrusted with the pivotal responsibility of overseeing and executing the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), a collaborative effort with Siemens AG and Siemens Energy aimed at advancing the power sector in Nigeria.

Before assuming his current role, Kenny held the position of Deputy and Head, Project Management Unit at the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP-AFDB), operating under the Rural Electrification Agency. In this role, he played a key part in the $550 million NEP-AFDB initiative, funded by the African Development Bank and World Bank. The project focused on accelerating off-grid electrification throughout Nigeria, with an ambitious agenda that included deploying over 250 Solar Mini Grids, successfully implementing the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) in Federal Universities and Teaching Hospitals, and distributing more than 24,500 productive use appliances in underserved communities across the country.

A distinguished power sector consultant and industry expert, Kenny has led various projects in the sector. He notably served as the Project Lead of the Power Sector Recovery Programme (PRSP), where his expertise in project implementation and team monitoring made a significant impact. Furthermore, Kenny contributed over five years to the DFID engagement work at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), focusing on tariff reviews and market development.

Prior to his career in Nigeria, Kenny spent five years at IBM, where he served as a programme manager on a major infrastructure change project. His professional journey also includes valuable experience with Lloyds Banking Group, where he contributed to business transformation efforts for global payments.

Kenny Anuwe is an alumnus of Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Edo State, Nigeria, where he earned a BSc. in Economics. Additionally, he holds an MBA from the University of Wales, Cardiff, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. With a wealth of experience and a proven track record, Kenny Anuwe stands as a prominent figure in the power sector, contributing significantly to the advancement of Nigeria’s energy landscape.
