Residents lament as stray bullet hits 4-year-old boy in Otukpo
Residents of Otiya Community in Igbanonmaje, Otukpo have expressed great dissatisfaction with security agents residing in the area after a stray bullet hit a four-year-old child identified as Oche Onjefu.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the sad incident, which occurred on the 23rd of December, 2020 left so many devastated and wondering if life and property protection is still the number one priority of our security agents.
According to an eyewitness, Adakole Sunday, “I was at home when I heard a child screaming from my neighbour’s house, when I got there I discovered that it was Oche my neighbour’s son who was hit by a stray bullet. The mother was crying saying that they have killed her son, to the glory of God, the thing did not go deep so I pulled it out.
“Blood was gushing out, so I and the mother rushed him to a chemist nearby but the man there refused to treat him, on the ground that we must provide a report from our Chief in the area known as Ejila.
“The father of the injured boy who was not at home, called that we should carry him to his oldest relative, Mr Okpani, who is a retired soldier.
“Our Ejila intervened later and we were asked to go back to the chemist for the treatment. The father of the boy came and said he knows how to go about it that we should just be calm since the boy was not badly hurt,” he told IDOMA VOICE.
Recall that same group of security men were said to have shot two persons to death around Ibadan street Otukpo close to the venue of the 2020 edition of Ochacho Carnival.
