Rivers Assembly resumes plenary after suspension of emergency rule
The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, on Thursday resumed plenary following the suspension of emergency rule in the state.
The lawmakers are holding their sitting at the Conference Hall within the legislative quarters in Port Harcourt, which has served as their temporary venue since arsonists attacked and destroyed the Assembly complex on Moscow Road.
The development comes a day after President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule imposed on Rivers on March 18, directing Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Assembly to return to their duties.
