Chidi Amadi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has tendered his resignation, adding to the growing list of key figures distancing themselves from the governor due to political differences.

The resignation was confirmed by Joseph Johnson, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, during a briefing with journalists on Wednesday. Johnson mentioned that Governor Fubara would announce a replacement for the vacant Chief of Staff position at an appropriate time.

“The former Chief of Staff, Hon Chidi Amadi, has resigned. The governor will announce another Chief of Staff at the appropriate time. It is the prerogative of the governor to appoint when he wants it. He will tell us, and we will announce it, and you will also get the release to that effect,” stated Johnson.

Chidi Amadi, who hailed from the same Obio/Akpor Local Government Area as Governor Fubara, previously served as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the LGA. Known as an ally of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Amadi’s resignation marks the tenth departure from the Fubara cabinet amid the ongoing political discord between the governor and his former political godfather, Wike.
