2027: Poor leadership is Nigeria’s biggest problem – SDP chairman

The National Chairman of the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prof. Sodiq Gombe, has blamed Nigeria’s persistent challenges on poor leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.

Gombe made the remarks on Tuesday, saying the country’s leadership crisis remains the biggest obstacle to national development.

According to him, many leaders across the National Assembly, the Executive and the Judiciary lack the character and competence required for effective governance, a situation he said has allowed unqualified individuals to occupy key public offices.

He described the 2027 general election as a critical opportunity for Nigeria’s youth to reshape the country’s future through the ballot.

Gombe urged young Nigerians to take advantage of their voting strength to bring about positive change and rewrite the nation’s history.

“The youths can make a difference in the coming 2027 general elections.

“Leadership is our major problem in this country. When you don’t get it right at the level of leadership, you are not going to get it right at any level or in any sphere of human endeavour,” he said.
