Sea pirates abduct ten maritime travellers on Bonny-Port Harcourt Waterway

At least ten maritime travelers are feared to have been abducted by sea pirates along the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway.

Although details are still emerging, IDOMA VOICE reports that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, involving travelers journeying between Bonny and Port Harcourt.

Israel Pepple, Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria’s Rivers State district, confirmed the incident by phone, stating, “This is not a rumor; it is real.

Ten people have been kidnapped this morning while traveling from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We have reported it to the security agencies.”

The police public relations officer confirmed awareness of the abduction, noting that Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu has instructed Deputy Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju and the local Divisional Police Officers to ensure the victims’ safe return as quickly as possible.
