Security: Oche delighted as community volunteers guard, operation whirlstroke avert clash, recover arms in Ado

In a show of superior operational intelligence, the Operation Whirlstroke military outfit and the Benue State Community Volunteers Guard led by its Commander, Armstrong Otse, yesterday in Ado Local Government recovered part of the arms and ammunition used to perpetrate the protracted community clash within the area.

In an operation that lasted for about 3-4 hours, the combined team combed the nooks and crannies of Azuigbelede in Apa Council Ward where they recovered one Ak 47 rifle, one automatic SMG, 5 locally made pistol, 100 rounds of ammunition, 20 cutlasses, 15 touch lights and assorted charms.

Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, Hon. Chief James Oche has saluted the gallantry of the security personal under his watch and reassured of his commitment to eliminating crime.

He further warned youths within the area to shun all forms of criminality and make legitimate living as his administration was more than ever ready to tackle crime now than ever before.

On what gave rise to the operation, our source gathered that, a man who was attacked within the area lodged a formal report to the Benue State Volunteers Guard who, with the support of the operation whirlstroke raided the area, recovered the mentioned arms and made arrests. Those arrested we understand have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
