Former House of Representatives member, Francis Ottah Agbo, has launched a blistering attack on the Senator representing Benue South, Abba Moro, describing him as “Ichabod” and accusing him of years of failed leadership.

Agbo, who is eyeing the Benue South senatorial seat in 2027, made the remarks during an appearance on The Conversation, a programme on IDOMA Television.

In a strongly worded critique, the former lawmaker said the people of Benue South have lost confidence in Moro, insisting that the senator no longer commands moral or political authority.

“Senator Abba Moro is the Ichabod of Benue South,” Agbo declared. “Ichabod simply means someone that has been forsaken, rejected — someone from whom the spirit of God has departed.”

Agbo alleged that despite years in office, Moro has little to show in terms of development across the district, claiming that projects captured in national budgets have not translated into tangible impact on the ground.

“Money is allocated for Benue South every year, but you go there, there are no projects. Everything about him is broken promises,” he said.

The former lawmaker further accused Moro of neglecting critical infrastructure, particularly roads and electricity, while also alleging that several communities remain underdeveloped despite repeated campaign pledges.

He cited the long-abandoned Otukpo–Obi–Oju road and poor internal road networks across the district as examples of what he described as “leadership failure.”

Agbo also criticized Moro’s response to security challenges in the region, claiming that the senator failed to stand with constituents during difficult times.

“Anybody who identifies with the people only in times of comfort will not be remembered. Leadership is a sacred responsibility, not a sumptuous banquet,” he added.

Positioning himself as an alternative, Agbo highlighted his record in the House of Representatives, where he said he facilitated employment opportunities, electrification projects, and infrastructure development within his constituency.

He pledged that if elected senator, he would prioritize grassroots development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure, promising to “turn Benue South into a construction site” and drive economic growth through entrepreneurship and the informal sector.

Agbo also revealed plans to establish creative and sports hubs, including a film and music production studio in Otukpo, as well as a football academy to harness youth talent.

Despite his harsh criticism, the former lawmaker maintained that his differences with Moro are not personal.

“I don’t hate Abba Moro; I hate his politics. In politics, we agree to disagree without being disagreeable,” he said.
