Senator Abba Moro nominated to attend Pope Francis’ burial in Rome

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, PhD, has been nominated by the Federal Government to be part of its high-level delegation attending the burial of Pope Francis in Rome.

The official nomination was conveyed to Senator Moro on Thursday by the Permanent Secretary of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

With this nomination, Senator Moro will join a select group of dignitaries from around the world expected to attend the funeral, scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome.

Pope Francis passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88, marking the end of a historic papacy that spanned over a decade.
