Nobody is safe in Nigeria — Sowore reacts to Death of retired General Rabe
Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, describing it as a reflection of Nigeria’s deepening security crisis.
Sowore said insecurity in the country has gone beyond control, adding that the situation would continue to deteriorate if urgent action is not taken.
He noted that before the retired military officer was kidnapped, a serving brigadier general had also been killed, stressing that the trend shows that no one is safe, regardless of rank or status.
“I have always said that people in power in Nigeria have lost control of the security situation in the country. I will continue to say it, things will continue to get worse. That is not prophecy but reality,” he said.
He added that the targeting of senior military officers shows the severity of the crisis.
“Before this retired officer was kidnapped, a serving brigadier general was killed. If they can target a person of such rank who commands thousands of soldiers, it means nobody is safe,” he stated.
Rabe Abubakar, a retired Major General, recently died after being abducted by armed men in Katsina State, an incident that has continued to spark public concern over insecurity in the country.
